Sparking Wines from Italy
|
Italy produces two styles of sparkling wines. Prosecco, from the areas of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, employs the Charmat Method. Other wines are produced using the Metodo Classico, the same process used in Champagne, France. These wines are now produced all over Italy, from Piemonte to Sicilia. Great success is achieved in Franciacorta, an area in the lake region northeast of Milano known as the "Champagne" of Italy. |
